The world has probably given birth to new generation of women including the beauty freaks and fashion enthusiasts. The nowadays women try lots of tricks and beauty treatments on not just their faces but all skin. These ranges from both organic to synthetic treatments and care ingredients use. The contemporary generation is synonymous with beauty that they even sometimes get tired and wear makeups to bed. While some know it is actually bad, others maybe do so ignorantly or nonchalantly. The first categories of people are safe. But the same cannot be said of the second category that wears makeup to bed every night. Such is the case of an Australian woman who has managed to wear mascara to bed for 25 years.
Yes, a milestone! She began the act when she was 25 and now she is over 50. At the moment, she intend on being a warning to you on why you should never wear makeup to bed anymore.
Teresa Lynch began with having really strange sensation in her eye. She decided to see the doctor and described the situation as if something was stuck in her eye which she couldn’t get out. It ended in a shocking revelation when she was examined. The doctors were shocked on what they saw that she became a case study in the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She admitted that she wore heavy mascara to bed for twenty-five years with inadequate removal.
The real problem here is that mascara has built up and calcified into lumps inside her eyelid, making her to feel the sensation of having pecks in her eye. In reality, something was stuck in her eyes but not dirt as she imagined.
The clinical spokesperson of the AAO, Dr. Rebecca Taylor when addressing her issues said that the concretions got embedded in her conjunctiva and even went deeper into the subconjunctival layer. This was said to appear like sort of a tattoo but rough ones which stuck inside of her upper eyelid, and so every time she closes her eyes, she gets to feel the scratch on her eyeball. Courtesy of these, she was also dealing with a nasty case of follicular conjunctivitis which is a type of bacterial infection which usually take place on the follicles of the conjunctiva. This has led to a permanent scarring on the inside of her eyelid and the surface of the eye. It took the doctor a 90-mnutes process to remove the larger lumps which has built on themselves in her eyelids. Lynch was very uncomfortable with the process that she acknowledge so. Virtually all the doctors were surprised looking at her
In her own words, Lynch said: “My eyelids were swollen and heavy because I left it for so long. When Dr Robaei pulled my eyelid back, she said: ‘Oh my god.. In my whole career I have seen anything this.’ She could see the whites of my eyes were glassy and bloodshot. I had fallen into a bad habit of wearing a lot of makeup and not washing it off. I should never have let it get this far. It’s so important to properly take your makeup off every single night. You can’t miss a single day.” eyes.
In summary, Lynch’s case is supposed to teach every lady that wear heavy makeup to bed a lesson. While it is not bad to wear makeups, it would be really bad and dangerous to sleep with them without washing them off. Prof. John Dart from the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology also added that most cosmetics contains carbonated chemicals and other ingredients that are not friendly with the eyes. Mascara especially could create iron pigments and polymers which would coat lashes and end up affecting the eyes.
